Retrieve payment line-item detail

Learn how to retrieve the invoice-level line items covered by a specific payment. For any payment, you can retrieve every invoice the remittance covers. Each line item shows the invoiced amount, the amount paid, any terms discount taken, and the net amount transferred, so you can identify variances.

Prerequisites

To complete this tutorial, you must have:

• Authorization from the selling partner for whom you are making calls. Refer to Authorizing Selling Partner API applications for more information.
• Approval for the Finance and Accounting role in your developer profile.
• The Finance and Accounting role selected in the App registration page for your application.
• A uniquePaymentId returned by the getRemittanceHeaders operation. Refer to Retrieve remittance headers.

Retrieve line items for a payment

Call the getRemittance operation with the uniquePaymentId of the payment as a path parameter. You must also specify the marketplaceId parameter and can optionally provide nextTokenForLineItems to page through the line items.

The response contains two parts:

• remittanceHeader: The same summary information returned for the payment by getRemittanceHeaders, including the payment total, method, status, and related identifiers.
• remittanceItems: An array of invoice-level line items. Each line item includes the following key fields:
  • invoiceNumber
  • invoiceIssueDate
  • totalAmount (with a breakdown of InvoiceAmount and TaxAmount)
  • netAmountPaid (with a breakdown of AmountPaid and TermsDiscountTaken)
  • paymentTerms
  • invoiceType
  • description.

The response also includes totalCount, the total number of line items across all pages, and totalPages, the total number of pages in the response.

Use netAmountPaid and its TermsDiscountTaken breakdown to identify any early-payment discount applied to an invoice. For a description of every field, refer to the getRemittance reference.

Retrieve additional pages of line items

If the response includes a nextTokenForLineItems, the payment has more line items than the current page. Pass the token as the nextTokenForLineItems parameter on your next request, keeping the path and marketplaceId the same. Repeat until the response no longer includes a nextTokenForLineItems.
