Create a Shop Direct Listing Without Variations
Learn how to submit a standalone Shop Direct listing.
This tutorial explains how to create a Shop Direct listing by submitting a Google product data feed to the Selling Partner API (SP-API).
To create listings in which related products, such as a shirt available in multiple colors or sizes, are grouped together on Amazon, refer Create a Shop Direct Listing With Variations.
Shop Direct is available in the US store (ATVPDKIKX0DER) only. For an overview of how Shop Direct works, refer to What is Shop Direct?
Prerequisites
To complete this tutorial, you need:
- A public or private application that's been approved for the Shop Direct role.
- A Shop Direct merchant who has signed up for Shop Direct in the Shop Direct merchant workspace.
- (Solution providers only) Authorization from the Shop Direct merchant to manage their Shop Direct listings. For details, refer to Get Authorization to Manage a Shop Direct Merchant's Shop Direct Listings.
Step 1: Prepare your Google product data feed document
Structure your feed document according to the Google product feed schema. Include only the following supported attribute groups:
- Basic product data
- Price and availability
- Product Category
- Product Identifiers
- Detailed Product Description
Other attribute groups, including shopping campaigns and other configurations, stores, destinations, and shipping and returns, are not supported.
Set the Content-Type header to one of the following supported values: application/rss+xml, application/xml, or text/xml.
Your feed document can contain no more than 25,000 records per submission.
NoteShop Direct might not process or store some optional attributes, so including optional attributes doesn't guarantee that these attributes will be used or displayed. Supported attributes can change over time.
Step 2: Create the feed document
Call the createFeedDocument operation to get a presigned URL and a feed document ID. Then upload your feed document from Step 1 to the presigned URL.
For details on creating and uploading feed documents, refer to Submit a feed.
Step 3: Submit the feed
Call the createFeed operation with the following parameters:
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
feedType | GOOGLE_PRODUCT_DATA_FEED |
marketplaceIds | ["ATVPDKIKX0DER"] |
inputFeedDocumentId | The feed document ID returned from createFeedDocument. |
feedOptions.listingIntent | LISTING_OFF_AMAZON (required; the only supported value). |
feedOptions.issueLocale | (Optional) Locale for issue localization, for example en_US. Defaults to the default language code of the first store provided. |
feedOptions.includedData | (Optional) Comma-separated list of data sets to include in the processing report, for example summaries,attributes,issues. The report always includes issues that prevent message acceptance, regardless of this value. |
Example
The following example shows a createFeed request body for a Shop Direct listing submission.
{
"feedType": "GOOGLE_PRODUCT_DATA_FEED",
"marketplaceIds": ["ATVPDKIKX0DER"],
"inputFeedDocumentId": "0000000000",
"feedOptions": {
"listingIntent": "LISTING_OFF_AMAZON",
"includedData": "summaries,attributes,issues",
"issueLocale": "en_US"
}
}Step 4: Retrieve and review the processing report
After you submit the feed, poll the feed status by calling the getFeed operation with the feed ID returned from createFeed. When the feed status is DONE, retrieve the processing report by calling getFeedDocument with the resultFeedDocumentId from the getFeed response.
Review the processing report for errors that prevented listings from being created. The processing report for GOOGLE_PRODUCT_DATA_FEED follows the same schema as the JSON_LISTINGS_FEED processing report. For schema details, refer to listings-feed-processing-report-schema-v2.json in the SP-API GitHub repository.
For help resolving errors, refer to Troubleshoot Shop Direct Listing Errors.
