Eligible Seller Central Roles for Service Providers

Understand which Seller Central roles service providers can request and why some roles are restricted to seller employees.

When you register a service on Solution Provider Portal (SPP) and request Seller Central role access, certain roles are available for approval while others are not. This page explains how role eligibility works for service providers and why some roles are not available.

How role eligibility is determined

Seller Central roles are categorized based on the type of account relationship for which they are designed:

  • Service provider-eligible roles: Roles that support the services that a third-party provider delivers on behalf of a seller. These roles are available for you to request through your service registration on Solution Provider Portal.
  • Seller employee-only roles: Roles that are intended exclusively for individuals who are direct members of a seller's organization. These roles involve actions, data access, or account-level responsibilities that require the user to be part of the seller's business, not acting on behalf of it as an external party.

Why some roles are available to only seller employees

Certain Seller Central roles carry responsibilities or grant access to sensitive account functions that are appropriate only for individuals within a seller's own organization. These restrictions exist for the following reasons:

  • Protect seller account integrity: Some roles provide access to functionality or information that sellers expect only their own employees to handle.
  • Maintain clear accountability: Certain account-level actions require the acting user to be part of the seller's organization for compliance and security purposes.
  • Align access with relationship type: The service provider relationship is scoped to delivering specific services. Roles that fall outside the scope of service delivery are not appropriate for external parties, regardless of the trust relationship between the seller and provider.

These roles are restricted by design due to the sensitive nature of the actions and data that they govern, not due to any concerns about individual service providers.

Can I access these roles through another method?

No. The only supported path for individuals outside a seller's organization to access a seller's Seller Central account is through Solution Provider Portal.

You can't gain access to seller employee-only roles by being added to a seller's account as an employee or through any other access method. Any access to a seller's account by someone who is not a direct member of their organization must be established through SPP and is limited to the roles for which your service has been approved.

What should I do if my service requires a restricted role?

If you believe a role that is currently unavailable is necessary to deliver your service, take the following steps:

  1. Review your current approved roles on the Solution Provider Portal homepage to confirm which roles your service has been approved for.
  2. If a role that you need is not available for request, consider whether an alternative eligible role provides the access that you require to deliver your service.
  3. If you have questions about role eligibility or believe that your use case requires further review, contact Solution Provider Portal Support.
